1.So far we have studied 3 dystopian society's in "Harrison Bergeron","The Lottery", and now The Ear,The Eye, and The Arm.
What 3 elements of dystopian society's do these 3 share? Explain with examples. I think the first thing they have in common is The natural word is banished or distrusted., I think that because in The Ear,The Eye, And The Arm is that because there is so much technology its not that natural, In Harrison Bergeron it's that everyone has to be equal, and in The Lottery is that no one really cares if you die. The second thing they have in common is that Citizens live in a dehumanized state. Like in Harrison Bergeron people have to wear handicaps to stay equal, In The Lottery people die if they get there name pulled out of the lottery, and in The Ear,The Eye And The Arm is that a lot of people are criminals. The last one is There is an idea or person worshipped by society, like in Harrison Bergeron the handicaps and the government is worshipped by the society, In the Lottery the lottery is worshipped by the society. In The Ear,The Eye, And The Arm the mellower is worshipped by the people. |

1.Which of the 11 elements of Dystopian society's is most evident in Harrison Bergeron, The Lottery, And The Ear, The Eye, And The Arm.
In Harrison Bergeron I think that Information, independent thought and freedom are restricted is the most evident in the story. I think it's the most evident because they can't be themselves, Everybody has to be equal. People are like scared to be themselves in Harrison Bergeron, If your like smarter than everybody you have to have a handicap for your brain so you be like everybody else. If you have athletic talents you would have to wear like a cast on your arm so you can be equal as everybody else.
In The Lottery I think that Citizens live in a dehumanized state is the most evident element. I think that because people do not live in a normal world, people think that killing innocent people is okay. People think that the lottery is good for there town and everybody else should do it, but most towns already do the lottery. Even the kids do the lottery, the adults set examples for the kids and the adults are really supportive for the lottery. The lottery would probably go on for a long time because everybody is really supportive of it. One person dies every year because the lottery and no one really cares.
In The Ear, The Eye, And The Arm I think that There is an idea or person worshipped by society is the most evident element. Everybody in the story mostly worships the mellower's because they can put you in any mood and convince you to do mostly anything. If somebody is sad they would go to a mellower to make them happy. In the story the mellower convinced the parents to let the children go out of the house to explore the outside world. Everybody usually want's a mellower, all the private family's have one like the Matsika's.
